Communities of practice are groups of people informally bound together by shared expertise or challenges in or concern or passion for something they do and learn how to do it better as they interact regularly.  The primary purpose of a CoP is to share best practices and create knowledge to advance the community’s sphere of influence in a chosen field or topic. (adapted from Communities of Practice:  A Brief Introduction; Communities of Practice:  An Organizational Frontier; and Seven Steps To Building A Community of Practice)

The Seeding Liberation Community of Practice is designed for members to focus on (1) sharing knowledge and resources, (2) facilitating reflection/critical thinking to support changes in mindset/personal praxis, and (3) deepening efforts to put participant learning into practice in their own educational or advocacy work and to build coalitions across movements.  The community of practice is intended to better equip members to engage in social action through exposure to experts and role models as well as community dialogue and collaboration.  Members of the CoP will have the opportunity to come together on a regular basis as determined by the group.
